Supreme
Chocolatier has been in business since 1911. Started by my
grandfather, Emmanuel Katsoris when he arrived here from his
home country of Greece, by making candy on his marble slab
table in a small retail store kitchen. From that humble
beginning, my family owned and operated business has
expanded during the past 95 years to bring you a full range
of fine enrobed and molded chocolate products, manufactured
under the Blum’s of San Francisco, House of Bauer, and
Superior Confection’s brand names.
Blum’s is our premium box chocolate line established in
1890. These assortments contain all your old time favorite
pieces with lots of whole nuts and fresh ingredients. If
you crave an old fashioned box of chocolates, with plenty of
variety, and you’re tired of getting mostly bland, tasteless
cream centers, then you will be pleasantly surprised by the
variety and quality of Blum’s Premium Chocolate
Assortments.
House of Bauer products really focus in on our Bavarian
Mint, and our Bavarian “Meltaway” products. These products
contain a rich, smooth creamy center, in a variety of
flavors, including mint, double chocolate, hazelnut and more
to be announced. Surrounded by velvety milk or rich dark
chocolates, they are called “ Meltaways” due to the soft,
subtle texture of these delectable centers that seems to
just “Meltaway” as they are enjoyed.
Our founder’s brand is Superior Confections. Superior makes
a wide array of seasonal chocolate products, both foiled and
unfoiled and both enrobed as well as molded. Our foiled
hollow molded products are made by a patented process, in
which they are molded right in their own individual foil
shells. This provides a sealed already wrapped piece of
chocolate. It also helps to preserve freshness as well as
ensure quality during shipping or handling.
Whether you are buying our Superior, Blum’s of San
Francisco, or House of Bauer products you are always assured
of receiving the highest quality product made with the
finest ingredients available. This has always been a
tradition of my family at Supreme Chocolatier. From our
chocolates, which are made with the prized and more costly
Ivory Coast Bean together with higher cocoa butter content,
creating a smoother texture, down to our rich, fresh heavy
cream recipes we use in our truffles. Ingredients like real
Madagascar Vanilla or real Raspberry concentrate from the
Pacific Northwest are used to give our products that little
extra something that only a family owned and operated
company are willing to provide. Most other companies do not
use real fruit flavors. Instead they use either artificial
flavorings or do not use much of the real stuff at all.
Other companies skimp on ingredients like nuts, of which you
will find larger, tastier nuts in our nut clusters. Our
Quality Assurance staff makes sure all ingredients are
handled properly. From receiving and storage to production,
they are on top of our production personnel to produce
products that have eye appeal as well as good taste. From
my family to yours, Enjoy !
Sincerely,
Michael Katsoris
Frequently Asked Questions: Q: I see a lot of different company names and it’s
confusing. Can you explain what’s going on?
A: Supreme Chocolatier LLC is the corporate name. Over the
years, Supreme Chocolatier purchased three separate
companies and brought them all together under one roof.
Blum’s of San Francisco, House of Bauer, and Superior
Confections are now three separate brand names manufactured
by Supreme Chocolatier.
Q: Do you manufacture all your own products or do you
purchase some from others and just distribute them?
A: Supreme Chocolatier manufactures all of the products it
sells.
Q: Blum’s of San Francisco has been around for a long time.
Is the quality the same as it used to be?
A: Yes. Blum’s of San Francisco was founded in 1890. When
Supreme Chocolatier purchased Blum’s in 2002 it was
discovered that some of the recipes had been changed from
the originals. Supreme Chocolatier immediately restored both
the recipes and quality of chocolate back to their original
high standards.
Q: What are the differences in the products between Blum’s,
Bauer, and Superior?
A: All three brands use the same ultra high quality
chocolate. Blum’s of San Francisco is most famous for its
Boxed Chocolates, Gourmet Dipped Pretzels, and Gourmet
Dipped Cookies. House of Bauer makes the finest Bavarian
Mint Meltaways you’ve ever tasted, as well as Hazelnut
(non-mint) Meltaways. Superior Confections produces the most
gourmet truffles you can find, produced in small batches
using fresh cream, pure Madagascar vanilla, and all natural
flavorings (our Raspberry truffles use real raspberry
concentrate fresh from Oregon). Superior Confections also
offers a wide assortment of chocolate novelties, including
both year round and seasonal selections.
Q: What makes your chocolate better than others?
A: The most important components are the ingredients, and
the most expensive ingredient is cocoa butter. While many
companies use the bare minimum cocoa butter required by law
for chocolate products, Supreme Chocolatier’s chocolate
exceeds the legal cocoa butter requirement by nearly 50%.
Cocoa butter gives chocolate its rich texture. Secondly, our
chocolate is refined a longer time to achieve the smallest
possible micron particle size, giving it a distinctive
smoothness. A longer refining process is more expensive and
many companies rush this process to keep the costs down. However, at Supreme Chocolatier we insist on longer
refining procedures which help us achieve the smoothest,
creamiest chocolate possible.
